UPDATE: Gas Leak at Prospect and Tulip Streets Reported Under Control;Expect Traffic delays.

Residents are warned to call 911 if they smell gas. A gas main leak is spewing gas into at home at 19 Prospect Street near Tulip Street.

UPDATE 3:45p.m. The city's emergency alert Code Red system was just issued again, saying the gas leak is under control. Fire department reports that residents will be withought gas for some time. Crews are still working in the area. If there is gas smell in your home, the fire department urges you to call 911.

UPDATE 1:35p.m. The city has activated its Code Red alert system warning residents in the area of Prospect and Tulip Sts. to stay in their homes. Call 911 if you smell gas in your home.

UPDATE 1:25p.m. A city alert from says there is "A significant gas leak at the intersection of Prospect and Tulip. "Please stay in doors".

Update: 1:15p.m  A police alert says there is "No current danger". But warns residents to avoid the area around Prospect and Tulip St. "

"Please avoid the area and plan alternate routes. Some secondary streets also closed," the report says.

The Summit Fire Department is reporting a gas main leak at 19 Prospect Street.

Gas is reportedly travelling through the sewer system and into the home, according the reports.

There are no further detail at this time.
