Habitat Fundraiser Sunday at Central Presbyterian

  1. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERFAITH BUILD FUNDRAISER
    Where/When:; Sunday, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Why Go: The Tattered Prophets, a rock group with the Music Ministry at the Shrine of Saint Joseph in Stirling, will be performing. The ensemble plays a lively variety of danceable musical styles--from the Beatles to the B-52s. And hey, it's for a good cause.
    Pricing: Adults $25, seniors $20, children under 15 free.
  2.  FILM: NURSE. FIGHTER. BOY
    Where/When: Summit Free Public Library; Friday 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
    Why Go: This Canadian film explores the relationship between the title characters.  Jude is a single mother who descends from a long line of Jamaican caregivers. Silence (played by Clark Johnson of Homicide and The Wire) is a 'past his prime' boxer who fights illegally to survive. Ciel is a boy who delves into music, conjuring dreams for his mother. During the last week of summer, a late-night brawl finds the fighter in the nurse's care causing their three fates to be forever entwined.

  3. SHS CHAMBER CHOIRS PERFORMS "YALE WHIFFENPOOFS"
    Where/When: ; Friday 8 p.m.
    Why Go: SHS alumnus Kent Twardock is performing with the Whiffenpoofs. And c'mon, who doesn't love the Whiffenpoofs? Or, at least saying Whiffenpoofs?
    Pricing: Unknown.
  4. THE SHOTS PERFORM AT MCLYNN'S IN SPRINGFIELD
    Where/When: McLynn's, duh.; Friday 9:30 p.m.
    Why Go: Who doesn't love live music? The Shots are a self-described "crunk, r&b, jam band from Clifton." Sounds, well, interesting.
    Pricing: Unknown.
  5. CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL-YES, PLEASE!
    Where/When: Morris Museum; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Why Go: Free samples of chocolate? Enough said.
    Pricing: $10.00/adults $7.00/children $7.00/seniors - children under 3 are free
