JCP&L Crews Hope to Restore Power by 6 p.m.

JCP&L crews are working to replace overheated wires on corner for Beechwood Road and Union Place.

Jersey Central Power and Light crews are working to replace overheated wiring in underground electrical circuits on the corner of Beechwood Road and Union Place. 

Doug Mooney, a supervisor with JCP&L said business in that area are experiencing a partial power outage as a result of a phase overload.

A bank of wires on the east side of Beechwood Road (in front of Beechwood Wine & Liquors) had gone out last week and crews are now rushing to  get that back online to restore the partial outage, Mooney said.

"This one went last week," he said. "And it went up to 91 degrees today which did not help."

The overload today occurred in a bank outside of Starbucks.

Mooney hopes power can be fully restored by 6 p.m.

"But we're hoping for sooner," he said.

Starbucks was still serving coffee was without air conditioning or power to its food display cases. Business affected, Mooney said, are mostly on Beechwood Road, Bank Street and between Union Place and Summit Avenue.
