Letter to Summit: 'Thanks For Your Support...Sandy Hook Loves You Back!'

A Letter to the Editor from Sandy Hook, Connecticut, thanking the city for it's support following the 'horrific' deaths in Newtown.

To the Editor:

On Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, our Sandy Hook community fell to its knees in
unspeakable pain and grief over the horrific losses of our 20 beautiful first-graders and six dedicated educators. We miss each of them deeply every single day.

For the past four months, Newtown has received an unbelievable outpouring of love and support from Summit and around the world. We would like to extend a very special thank you to the City of Summit for the huge Newtown banner, each and every heartfelt handwritten card, and all the letters, pictures and gifts you sent to comfort our friends and community. Some of your kids even gave up their special sports memorabilia and banners to comfort the siblings of the children lost that day.

Your love and kind gestures have meant so much to our town, and you have proven to us that there is much more good than evil in this world.

Many thanks for your love and support, Summit. We want you to know Sandy Hook loves you back!

With gratitude,

Michelina & Michael DiSibio
Sandy Hook, CT
