Mountainside Teen Earns 'Trooper of the Year' Honors

Courtney Maier, 14, of Mountainside, was awarded the 'Trooper of the Year' trophy.

A Mountainside teen was awarded the "Trooper of the Year" trophy and medal for accumulating the most points during the 2012 Troop season at Watchung Stable in Mountainside, it was recently announced.

Courtney Maier, 14, has been riding horses for five years. She received her trophy from stable manager Rachel Bechtold during the stable's 80th anniversary Spring Troop Horse Show over Memorial Day weekend.

Watchung Stable, a facility of the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal, is administered by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
