Oak Knoll Food Collection at Kings Today

Collection will benefit St. Teresa of Avila Parish.

Here are five things you need to know today, February 26, 2011:

  1. There will be a performance of "Speed the Plow" by David Mamet tonight at 8 p.m. at the Summit Playhouse. Speed-The-Plow is one of several successful plays Mamet has written about the business world. Filled with his trademark, rapid-fire dialogue, it focuses on the ruthless nature of Hollywood and the movie industry. With Mamet's superb use of dialogue and taught plotting the seemingly superficial depiction of two Hollywood producers looking for a big break finds deep meaning. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students (18 and under).
  2. The Summit High School boys ice hockey team will face Westfield tonight at 6 p.m. in the Union County Tournament Championship game. The puck hits the ice at 6 p.m. at Warinanco Ice Rink in Roselle.
  3. Live music at McLynn's in Springfield tonight. Modesto will be performng at 9:30 p.m. No cover charge.
  4. Second to last day to partake in restaurant week! Check out summitdowntown.org for the list of participating restaurants.
  5. The alumnae/i association of Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit is sponsoring a food collection at Kings Super Market in Summit (784 Old Springfield Avenue) on Saturday, February 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of the association will be gathered outside Kings, distributing a list of needed food items for donation to the food pantry at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Summit.
