Free Screening of Documentary on First Asian Congresswoman

Summit College Club is sponsoring the event.

Patsy Takemoto Mink was a political maverick who not only blazed a trail as the first woman of color elected to Congress, but also co-wrote landmark education legislation. The Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act allowed a more open field for women in university athletic programs.

To top it off Mink, a Japanese-American woman from Hawaii, was also one of the first women to ever enter a bid for president when she threw her hat in the ring in the 1972 Democratic primary.

This Sunday, Jan. 8, the Summit College Club chapter of the American Assoc. of University Women is sponsoring a film screening and discussion of the award-winning 2009 documentary "".
