Library Closing Early as Second Major Storm Hits City

12-16 inches expected for Union County.

Summit schools were closed Thursday and now the Summit Free Public Library will close early due to inclement weather. Although the snow did not start until around 6 a.m., around 4.5 inches were already measured by 3:30 p.m. The library will close at 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory which will remain in effect for our area until 6 p.m. Friday. Twelve to 16 inches are possible in Summit.

While the snow is wet and slushy, both Department of Public Works and County plows were out and about Thursday morning clearing roads. Many residents were downtown picking up last minute items and heading to work. NJ Transit is offering a system-wide cross honoring today.
