Schools Close for Second Day

Special Meeting of Common Council delayed until noon.

Summit Public Schools are closed for the second day in a row due to a Nor'Easter currently hitting the city.

About 10 inches have already accumulated since the storm started around 6 a.m. Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning in effect for Union County until 6 a.m. Saturday which also says 12-18 inches are expected in total. Wind gusts up to 30 mph are also possible.

A special meeting of common council, which was originally scheduled for 7:45 a.m., has been moved until noon due to the weather. Council will hold an executive session about a personnel matter and then the open public meeting will begin.
