Service for Walter Long Today at St. Teresa

Plus: Baseball takes on Roselle Catholic at 4 p.m.

Here are five things you need to know today, April 19, 2011:

  1. A service will be held for Walter D. Long, former Mayor and long-time resident of Summit, at St. Teresa of Avila at 10:45 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the "Walter Long Memorial Fund" c/o The Other Fellow First Foundation, 47 Summit Avenue, Summit, New Jersey 07901 or www.summitdiner.org
  2. Sponsored by the Summit Y - Youth and Government for local teens meets weekly at the Summit Y Youth Center on Tuesdays. For teens in grades 9 to 12. It is an opportunity to get involved in your community and learn how to make their voices heard about issues that are important to them. Open to all area teens. Event runs from 6 to 7 p.m.
  3. It's day two of spring break for Summit Public School students! How are you spending your vacation? E-mail stories and photos to Heather@Patch.Com.
  4. Spring curbside leaf collection continues this week. Collection will occur on your regular trask pickup day.
