Parrotbeach Plays At 'Summit to the Shore' Concert

Proceeds to help build 26 playgrounds in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut towns ravaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The City of Summit kicked off the "Summit to the Shore" concert event on the Village Green Tuesday night.

Sponsored by Investors Bank and Overlook Medical Center, all proceeds raised will go to the NJ Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Association's project to build 26 playgrounds in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut towns ravaged by Superstorm Sandy. The playgrounds, including the seven that will be built in New Jersey, will be dedicated to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

Just before Parrotbeach, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, hit the stage at this concert, Kevin Cummings, CEO of Investors Bank, announced that the bank will donate $5,000 to this cause if $5,000 is raised during the concert.

Although it began raising at 8 p.m. and some community members left, many others stayed until 9 p.m. Parrotbeach was able to play in between rain showers.

Check back Wednesday for more coverage of this concert event.
