Union County Makes Small Business Loans Available

Loans are available through the Union County Economic Development Corporation.

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders has made available loans for Hurricane Irene expenses.

The county said that small business owners who are interested in loans can contact the Union County Economic Development Corporation (UCEDC) at by phone at 908-527-1166, or visit www.ucedc.com and follow the link to “loans.”

The UCEDC is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing loans to small businesses when conventional lending sources are out of reach.

On September 4, however, Union County became eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) federal disaster relief funds. 

Freeholder Chairman Deborah Scanlon announced that Union County residents and small businesses are now eligible to apply for different types of federal assistance, including temporary housing, repair, replacement, Disaster Unemployment Assistance, and Small Business Administration disaster loans.

Union County business owners should also contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for information about assistance.  

Businesses can apply for assistance through FEMA through their Web site at  http://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or call 800-621-3362.
