UPDATE: Summit Schools Closed Tomorrow, PD Updates on Storm Issues

The Summit Police Department Released this information regarding the recent Nor'easter. Trick or Treating has been moved to until Friday, November 4.

Summit Police Department and Cheif Robert Weck:

Listed below are updates on several storm related issues concerning the City of Summit:

1. The Summit Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1st.

2. The Warming and Charging Station is still operating at the Summit Middle School at 272 Morris Ave.

3. Halloween Trick or Treating is postponed until Friday, November 4th. This is a safety issue with downed wires, fallen tree debris and unlit walkways etc. We feel the children will benefit in the long run as it is not a school night and more homes will be accessible, resulting in.....more treats.

4. Transfer Station -in an effort to assist the city to make the streets passable and safe we are asking the residents to arrange for the disposal of their private tree debris. The city will continue to remove the debris from public trees. If you are removing the debris yourself, you can bring it to the recycling/compost area. Residents arranging for a contractor to remove the debris can come to the Community Services Department in City Hall to request a pass for their contractor.

The transfer station does not currently have power. No trash or bulky waste will be accepted at the transfer station until the power has been restored. The compost and recycling area of the transfer station will be open for regular operating hours for tree debris, other vegetative waste and recyclables. Please check the website for additional information.

Once again, we all thank you for your continued patience, understanding and efforts in working together in getting Summit thriving once again.
