Week in Review: Council Delays Hearing on Post Office Parking

It was another jam-packed week in Summit. Here's what went down in case you missed it:

On Monday, we told you that despite the continued presence of wildwires to our west in California, the fire risk here in the Garden State and more specifically at the Watching Reservation is low this year, showed the newly tenured teachers that were honored at last week's Board of Education meeting, and previewed the fall and winter offerings from the Department of Community Programs.

On Tuesday, we brought you a review of Negeen, told you Mayor Jordan Glatt was on hand Monday to proclaim this week America on the Move Week at the YMCA, reported the weekly police blotter in which $2,200 worth of copper was stolen from the Claremont Corporate Center site, gave you the weekend sports report and announce AARP has named Atlantic Health the best healthcare industry employer for employees 50 and older.

On Wednesday, we previewed the field hockey's team season, told you the common council decided to delay a hearing on leasing parking spaces in the Railroad Lot to the Post Office in the overnight hours and honored the youth police academy instructors' aides with police chief awards, told you the Summit Area YMCA got some new equipment and upgrades to its fitness center, and gave you a season update on the Hilltoppers' football squad.

On Thursday, we took a look at how the boys' and girls' soccer teams have been doing so far this season. We also announced the kickoff of the Summit Area YMCA's Endowment Campaign, and showed you the annual test of the Summit and Millburn Fire Departments' pumper trucks.
