Week in Review: Robbery Suspects and Rats!

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect in the Lanel Jewelry Store robbery and Local 78 protested outside Bouras Properties with an inflatable rat.

What a week! Summit Patch has only been live for two weeks, yet I've been hopping around town covering everything from breaking news to meeting with the big players in town. Heres what you missed:

  • On Monday we told you about Mayor Jordan Glatt casting his first vote as mayor after 6 years in office, we profiled a homegrown athlete, Shabazz Green, now playing at Kean University, and told you about a fire at the Short Hills mall Sunday night. Don't worry, no injuries.
  • On Tuesday we gave you the weekly police blotter, updated you on a Summit resident who was the victim in last weeks crash on JFK Parkway, and Cindy Loh reviewed Winberie's.
  • On Wednesday we profiled a non-nonprofit organization that just helped its 100th family, told you about another fire at the Short Hills Mall, and told you a former Kent Place School teacher pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student.
  • On Thursday police released two surveillance photos of the suspect in the Aug. 19 robbery at Lanel Jewelry & Antique Store, previewed a new business: featured a photo gallery of people golfing at the Muni on Wedneday, and featured a video teaser of the Summit High School Marching Band's show for the Fall.
  • On Friday, we explained the sightings of the 12-foot inflatable rat at Local 78's union protest outside Bouras Properties, announced the Summit Police Department's new Citizen Police Academy, and profile Bryce Miller, a born and raised Summit race car driver.
  • On Saturday we profiled another vendor at the farmer's market: Stefan and Sons Meat Store, I wrote my editor's notebook about my first Newcomer's Club event, and we posted photos from Sudan Under the Big Tree.
