Democrats Retain Control of Union County Freeholder Board

Democrats have controlled the nine-member Board for close to two decades.

The Democratic party once again swept the GOP in the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders race. 

The Board's current chairwoman, Linda Carter of Plainfield, won her second term, garnering the most votes. Bette Jane Kowalski of Cranford has been elected to a fourth-term and newcomer Sergio Granados of Elizabeth, who was selected by the county Democratic Committee in September to complete the remainder of former Freeholder Daniel Sullivan’s term, won as well. 

The following are the unofficial results, according to Union County's website.

Rep - Marc A. KRAUSS 40,607 15.05%

Rep - Ira GEIGER 39,992 14.82%
Personal Choice 33 0.01% 
Total 269,797 100.00%

The Democrats have held complete control of all seats on the board for nearly two decades in Union County.
