Santa Claus is Coming to Downtown Summit

Downtown
Summit begins the holiday season with the arrival of Santa Claus, a host of
children’s activities on the Village Green, along with music, an adult hat and
glove drive, and the Annual Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 8.



 



Activities
begin at 2:30 pm on the Village Green where World of Rock will be performing
holiday favorites, Jimmy’s Artistic Creations will be designing holiday
sculptures from blocks of ice, Summit P.A.L. will be serving hot chocolate and
a face painter will be available for the children to enjoy.

Rascal
the Clown will create balloon animals and Reeves-Reed Arboretum, the Summit
First Aid Squad and YMCA will conduct other children’s activities.

Bridges
Outreach will have a table where children can color paper gift bags and
participants are invited to make a donation of an adult winter hat or pair of
gloves for those in need.



 



At 3
pm, Santa arrives on the rooftop of the YMCA, 67 Maple Street, across from the
Village Green, and he will descend from the roof with the assistance of the
Summit Fire Department and their hook and ladder truck.  Santa will proceed to the gym of the YMCA
where he will be joined by his elves to greet children until 4:30 pm.



 



The
Summit High School brass quintet, under the direction of Steve Rap, will play
holiday favorites in the lobby of the YMCA.



 



FREE
$10 Summit Holiday Dollar gift cards will be distributed during the festivities
and according to Mark Wadmond, events committee chairman for Summit Downtown,
Inc., sponsor of the events for the day, 
“We are please to offer free Summit Holiday Dollar gift cards to
shoppers for the second year in a row. 
The cards are valid from December 1-25 at participating businesses which
can be found on our website, www.summitdowntown.org.”



 



Activities
on the Village Green continue until the annual tree lighting by at 4:45 pm along with holiday songs by the Continuo Arts Children’s
Choir.
