Summit FMBA promotes fire safety to the community

Summit Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association FMBA 54 held a contest to promote fire safety.

Summit Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA 54), recently held a competition requiring children and parents from the city to visit Fire Headquarters located at 396 Broad Street to collect firefighter trading cards. Children who collected the entire set of forty cards would be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes which included: a laptop computer, an iPod touch, and lastly an iTunes gift card.

While meeting firefighters to obtain the trading cards, both parents and children had an opportunity to learn and ask questions regarding fire safety. Over the span of a month, the firefighters saw many families from all over the city and were able to promote their message to the public.

In mid December the drawing took place back at Summit Fire Headquarters where the three winners of the contest were determined. Daniel Campos came in third place winning a gift card to the iTunes store. Charlie McGarity came in second place for the iPod touch, and Nell Murphy won the grand prize taking home a brand new laptop computer. All the children who participated were excited and congratulated the winners in the end.
