Hoboken Farms is offering 1,000 sandwiches to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey

To celebrate the grand opening of its first retail sandwich shop in Summit, N.J., Hoboken Farms Farmers Markets & Sandwich Shop is hoping to make a wish come true – a sizable donation to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.  Beginning Wednesday, May 11 and continuing through Saturday, May 14, Hoboken Farms is offering 1,000 sandwiches to customers using a “pay what you wish” price structure - with all money benefitting the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, an organization that helps feed more than 900,000 people each year via their 1,500 member agencies in 18 of New Jersey’s 21 counties.

In addition, Provident Bank will match donations made to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey up to $5,000. This limited-time program will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday to Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The shop will open to the general public, with a regularly-priced menu, at 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18.

“Growing up, family and neighbors were a strong source of support and encouragement, allowing us to be in the position we are in today,” said, Brad Finkel, President of Hoboken Farms, which has been a farmer’s market regular since 1992 and can be found at 30 area farmer’s market locations. “We are truly grateful to all our supporters. To show our gratitude, we are sending the donations generated by our 1,000 sandwich giveaway directly back into the community via the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to benefit friends and families who are battling food insecurity.”

Hoboken Farms Sandwich Shop, located at 789 Springfield Avenue in Summit, will offer what is promised as New Jersey’s most awesome sandwiches for take-out or delivery. Hoboken Farms bread is baked fresh every morning in a 110 year old coal fired brick oven in Hoboken and then delivered to Summit before the sun rises. Their world famous fresh mozzarella cheese will be hand-made right in the front window. Every recipe is made with only Gluten Free ingredients and the newly built shop will have a dedicated gluten free production area. All sandwiches are  available on gluten-free bread custom baked in a small dedicated facility in Brooklyn. Head chef, Greg Cuoco, said that this is truly “slow food served fast and we just can’t wait to show off our one of a kind, awesome sandwiches. This promotion is the perfect way to train our staff to make our sandwiches perfect every time.”

Hoboken Farms is confident that their opening week will be a successful one not only for them, but for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, an organization with which they have an ongoing relationship.  And the company plans to continue to donate funds to the food bank as they grow.
