Parishioners use extraordinary resources to recreate the Passion of Christ.

Parishioners of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Summit are preserving their culture and traditions of the Lenten season, by reenacting the Passion of Christ, as it is celebrated in their homelands of Costa Rica, Venezuela and Latin America.
For many this is the time when they come together to recreate the pain Jesus must have felt in the last hours of his life some 2,000 years ago.

"It is a coming together as a community," said Allendi Rodriguez and his wife Evelin, who are the founders of the group, The Passion of Christ.
The group organizes the actors and is responsible for the entire production which takes over three months to prepare.

Volunteers help build the set, audio, customs and they cast the roles for Jesus of Nazareth, Mary the Virgin Mother of Christ, Roman soldiers, angels, the disciples and more.
The performances have been taking place over ten years and since last year in an effort to share their experience they are including performances both in English and Spanish.
Many said the celebration is building unity at St. Theresa's that is allowing the entire church to come together to celebrate their faith.

El 6 de abril, 2012- Feligreses de la Iglesia Católica Santa Teresa de Ávila en Summit conservan su cultura y tradiciones de la temporada Cuaresmal, recreando la Pasión de Cristo de la forma en que se celebra en sus países de origen de Costa Rica, Venezuela y América Latina.
Para muchos este es el momento en que ellos se unen para recrear el dolor que Jesús debió haber sufrido durante las últimas horas de su vida hace aproximadamente 2,000 años.
'Esta obra nos permite juntarnos como una comunidad,' dijo Allendi Rodríguez y su esposa Evelin, los fundadores del grupo, la Pasión de Cristo.
El grupo organiza a los actores y es responsable de la producción entera que dura tres meses de preparación.
Los voluntarios ayudan con la construcción de la escenografia, el audio, los atuendos de los personajes, y la selección de actores para hacer los papeles de Jesús de Nazaret, María la Virgen Madre de Cristo, soldados romanos, ángeles, los discípulos y más.
Las interpretaciones de la muerte y crucifixión de Cristo se han estado llevando acabo más de diez años y desde el año pasado en un esfuerzo por compartir su experiencia se han incluido presentaciones en ambos lenguajes en Inglés y en Español.
Muchos de los que estuvieron presentes dijeron que la celebración de la Pasión de Cristo esta construyendo la unidad en la Iglesia de Santa Teresa y esta permitiendo que la iglesia entera se junte para celebrar su fe.
