4 Oak Knoll Seniors Signs Letter of Intent to Play Division I Lacrosse

Scholar-athletes are headed to Bucknell, Vanderbilt and Villanova.

The following was submitted by Oak Knoll:

Four senior scholar-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to play Division I girls lacrosse on National Signing Day on November 13.

Mary Margaret Kenney of Summit signed her letter of intent to play at Bucknell, Elizabeth Armstrong of Chatham and Kathleen O'Connor of New Vernon at Villanova, and Lexi Smith of Summit at Vanderbilt.

Mary Margaret, a midfielder named an Academic All-American, had 30 ground balls, four shots on goal, and three goals during the 2012-13 season. Off the field, she is a Eucharistic Minister, a volunteer for the Special Olympics, and a member of the Social Council.

Lizzie Armstrong, low defense, netted 19 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and had three interceptions. Lizzie is also a member of the soccer and swim teams at Oak Knoll. In March, Lizzie volunteered in the Dominican Republic at a Holy Child mission. She also serves as the Athletic Council president and plans to study business as Villanova.

Kathleen O'Connor, a midfielder, piled up 13 shots on goal, 10 goals, and six assists. A member of the National French Honor Society, Kathleen is also a peer leader, a volunteer with Bridges Outreach in Summit, and a retreat leader at her church.

Lexi Smith, low defense, finished the 2012-13 season with 13 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers. Lexi, also an Academic All-American an AP Scholar, was awarded third-team All-State and first-team Union County honors by The Star-Ledger. Off the field, Lexi is a counselor at Sacred Heart Summer Camp and is a Eucharistic Minister at Oak Knoll. She plans to study human organization development at Vanderbilt.
