'Savoring the Shore,' a cook and memory book celebrating the flavors of the Jersey Shore, is on sale now at Vita Organic Foods.

From simple to sophisticated recipes, home cooks as well as celebrity chefs, including Tom Colicchio, David Burke, all with a mutual love for the Jersey Shore, were asked to contribute dishes and anecdotes to the publication. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the full-color, 128-page book, which retails for $24.99, benefit Hurricane Sandy relief and rebuilding efforts for the Garden State.

Creating 'Savoring the Shore' was a labor of love for its co-authors, mother-daughter team Cheryl Larkin and Kate Kurelja.

"Our cottage was spared by Sandy, but we have been astounded by the damage surrounding us in our immediate area and far beyond," the duo wrote on the cookbook's website. "We are marketing professionals by day and foodies all of the time, so publishing about food and fun at the shore feels like a natural fit. The proceeds will benefit Sandy relief. The need is great and every bit helps."

The recipes of Summit's own restaurateur and chef Adele DiBiase of Vita Organics and Pizza Vita are included among the 150-plus featured in the book.

"We are so grateful for the positive response and feedback that we are receiving," Larkin and Kurelja explained. "The stories are so fun and so touching, just as our memories are. The shore is our happy place and that is what we want 'Savoring the Shore' to celebrate."

Vita Organic Foods is located at 320 Springfield Ave. in Summit. For more information, call 908-277-0009.
