Summit Park & Shop Improvement Project Wins Award

City Engineer Aaron Schrager accepted the award for the City of Summit at the NJ Society of Municipal Engineers annual luncheon.

The following was submitted by the City of Summit: 

The City of Summit, NJ Engineering Department has been recognized by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers as a second place recipient in the Municipal Construction Management Projects “F” category. The award-winning project made substantial improvements to three Park & Shop lots on Deforest Avenue in Summit.

Details of the design include widening of spaces and reconfiguration of the three lots to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Handicapped Parking Space standards. Summit’s Department of Public Works handled the construction work that involved upgrades to drainage, landscaping, pavement restoration and curbing. The project was managed by the Parking Services Agency.

“We are thrilled to receive this award from the NJ Society of Municipal Engineers,” explained Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson. “Recognition for this vital infrastructure investment is important for the City. I would like to congratulate the entire project team for a job well done.” 

“This award is another confirmation of the outstanding work of our Engineering and Public Works departments,” explained City Administrator Christopher Cotter. “The lot restoration project design has positively impacted downtown parking, creating better traffic flow in the lots and ease of parking in the reconfigured spaces.”
