The Santa Claus Shop is pleased to announce that The Toy Professor, 430 Springfield Avenue, in Summit, has generously offered to donate a percentage of their sales on Saturday, November 9th to the Santa Claus Shop as part of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association’s (ASTRA) Neighborhood Toy Store Day. On this day local toy stores will launch the holiday shopping season with community minded fun and celebrate the spirit of giving.
Geoff Stern, President of The Toy Professor said, “One of the ways we contribute to the community is through sustained giving to many different local charities. In this vain, I would like to anchor a Santa Claus Shop donation program to this year's Neighborhood Toy Store Day.”
In addition to The Toy Professor’s donation, patrons will also have the opportunity to make an additional personal donation to the Santa Claus Shop, which can be added to their invoice at checkout.
In the continued spirit of giving The Toy Professor will keep the donation period open from November 10th through November 15th, if shoppers bring in the attached ad or printed flyer. Donations will be made to the Santa Claus Shop based on a percentage of standard store sales.
The Santa Claus Shop serves more than 1,000 low-income families members and senior citizens from Summit, New Providence and Berkeley Heights. The Santa Claus Shop guests personally select a household item, new clothing for each member of their immediate family and a new toy and book for each child.
The Shop exists solely on monetary donations from local businesses, charitable organizations and area residents. With these donations, The Santa Claus Shop can purchase the gifts that allow participants to experience the joy of holiday giving without the financial burden.
This year’s Santa Claus Shop will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 587 Springfield Avenue in Summit. Families will be offered shopping hours by invitation only on Wednesday, December 4th.
The Santa Claus Shop is chaired by Summit residents, Stacie Collins, Carrie Fallon, Beth Little, and Jenna Smith and co-chaired by Amanda Grainger, Kim Morander, Stacy O’Connor, Lisa Parkes, and Sarah Roberts.
If you would like to help keep the holiday spirit alive for those in the community, the Santa Claus Shop chairwomen ask for checks to be made payable to SHIP, with Santa Claus Shop noted on the check’s memo line, and mailed to the Santa Claus Shop, P.O. Box 119, Summit, NJ 07901. The ability to make an online donation is also available via PayPal to email@example.com.
