Summit Welcomes Christmas Season With Tree Lighting

Falling snow signaled that the holidays are in full swing.

Swirling snow added to the festive atmosphere at Summit's annual tree lighting Sunday at the Village Green. Hilltoppers braved the cold to watch as the enormous tree was illuminated, brightening the dark evening sky.

Keeping revelers in good spirits, the Continuo Arts Children’s Choir performed holiday songs. The Continuo Arts Foundation celebrated its annual 'Home for the Holidays' House Tour Saturday in Westfield. The third annual event, sponsored by Coldwell Banker, supported the non-profit in its quest to further artistic advancement by providing local, national and international performance opportunities for gifted artists, musicians and composers.

Prior to the tree lighting, Santa stopped by the Summit YMCA. The visit was sponsored by Summit Downtown, Inc., which distributed free $10 Summit Holiday Dollar Gift Cards for the second year. Cards may be used through Dec. 25 at participating businesses.

Attendees had an opportunity to donate hats and gloves to those in need as Bridges Outreach hosted a table where children could color paper gift bags.
