Free Lot Parking for Summit Holiday Shoppers

Summit offers free lot parking for the holidays and 90-minute parking at street meters through next year.

Summit is providing complimentary parking during the holiday season in Downtown Summit.

The parking lots on DeForest Avenue and the bottom level of the Tier Garage (Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4) will serve the public for shopper parking and the city is giving complimentary parking until January, 2013.

The City is asking to limit your parking time to three hours in these parking lots to allow for sufficient turnover of these parking spaces. Downtown employees should utilize long-term lots and not take up valuable shopper spaces.

Summit is also enticing visitors and shoppers downtown for the holiday season with allowing a little extra time at 90-minute street meters. Customers will receive a Holiday Courtesy Card instead of a ticket!

Parking Ambassadors

Look for Summit Ambassadors! A new exciting downtown addition is the Summit Ambassadors decked in white shirts and maroon vests. In the near future, they will be donning Santa hats for a festive feel. Ask them where to park, how to find a certain gift you’re looking for or where a renowned restaurant is. They are here to help!

The city hopes that many will shop local and support Summit businesses during the holiday season.

The City of Summit wishes everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

So there is an app to take your money for parking in a lot built with your dollars. How about an app that opens the library on Sunday? or Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evenings? How about an app that causes your mayor to feign a modicum of righteous indignation toward an incompetent public utility on behalf of suffering constituents? How about an app that re-plows your street adequately when the single pass wasn't enough? How about an app that requires schools to meet your child's needs? Or an app that reinstates adult and community education in Summit? Or an app that cleans up the litter left by the recycling pickup crew? Or an app that fights for efficient county government (or simply deletes it!)?
And if free parking and courtesy cards and no parking tickets are so good for downtown Summit during the winter holiday, why aren't they good the other eleven months of the year?
