Environmental Commission Announces 6th Annual Earth Day Activities

Save the Date - Summit Earth Day Clean Up Set for April 21

Neighbors, friends, community groups, gardening enthusiasts, and scouts are invited to pitch in and help clean up Summit’s parks and open spaces in the sixth annual city-wide Earth Day Clean Up on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.

This year’s Earth Day Clean Up will include Martin’s Brook Park, Briant Park, , the wooded open space adjoining the Transfer Station, and areas along the Passaic River. For those who do not pre-register, walk-ins are welcome at Martin’s Brook Park off Butler Parkway and off Morris Avenue beginning at 9 a.m.

In case of heavy rain, the event will be held on Sunday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. This event is being sponsored by the Summit Environmental Commission in cooperation with the Washington Area Association and the Briant Park Olmsted Conservancy.

Participants in Earth Day events are asked to bring work gloves and a beverage. For those participants who would like to work on removal of invasive plants at Briant Park, please bring shovels, clippers or rakes. Community service hours for teens are available.
