Americans for Prosperity Shares a Message at Summit's City Hall

Steve Lonegan presented compelling facts about American's alarmingly declining financial status and comparative economic freedom amongst the world's nations. Please add the elephant.

Last night, Steve Lonegan made a sobering presentation, at the Summit City Republican Committee's monthly meeting,  regarding America's alarmingly rapid decline in financial condition and comparative economic freedom amongst the worlds nations.

America has ranked first in economic freedom from the industrial revolution until just recently when we began to decline, and we will soon fall out of the top ten nations in that ranking.  Key factors in the rating include the extent of regulation and taxation as it relates to the ease of starting an business, growing a business, and benefitting commensurately financially from your success in that endeavor.  New Jersey ranks dismally in these measures and the nation is in a rapid decline, most rapidly during the Obama regime.

Other sobering facts presented were the growing number of people that rely on government support approaching 50%, the rapid growth of federal, state, county and local government to support them, and the out of control growth in borrowing to support it.  Obama has increased our deficit to over $16 trillion dollars.  He alone is responsible for more of this deficit than all of the previous President's combined!  We are approaching a ratio of borrowing to GDP from which no country has successfully recovered.  In fairness, the growth in debt started under President Bush, but it pales in comparison to Obama's debt contribution.

I need to point out that Americans for Prosperity does not endorse any candidates or parties, they only point out facts.

We are at arguably the biggest crossroads and election this country has ever faced.  Do we want to be a socialist European style economy the eventually goes down the predictable road the the end that faces Greece and other European economies, or do we want to return the the nurturing economic climate that unleashed America's economic might on the world with rapid growth and prosperity shared amongst the greatest share of its citizens in the world?  I think we all know the answer to this question, and we need to vote appropriately in this coming election for real change we can believe in...we need to vote out Obama and what he stands for.

Americans for Prosperity are nationwide in reach.  They had a rally in Rockefeller Center.  Steve Lonegan was on Neil Cavuto's show on Fox.

Rather than give my impressions of Americans for Prosperity's mission and activities, I am quoting directly from their website below and encourage you to spend some time perusing it:

About Americans for Prosperity

OUR MISSIONS

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is committed to educating citizens about economic policy and mobilizing those citizens as advocates in the public policy process. AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state, and federal levels. AFP grassroots activists advocate for public policies that champion the principles of entrepreneurship and fiscal and regulatory restraint. To that end, AFP supports:

  • Cutting taxes and government spending in order to halt the encroachment of government in the economic lives of citizens by fighting proposed tax increases and pointing out evidence of waste, fraud, and abuse.
  • Removing unnecessary barriers to entrepreneurship and opportunity by sparking citizen involvement early in the regulatory process in order to reduce red tape.
  • Restoring fairness to our judicial system.

WHO WE ARE

The heart and soul of AFP is our citizen activists. They organize events, write letters to the editor, and petition their lawmakers to uphold freedom and prosperity. Americans for Prosperity has more than 2,000,000 activists in all 50 states and 34 state chapters and affiliates. More than 90,000 Americans in all 50 states have made a financial contribution to AFP or our sister organization, AFP Foundation.

WHAT WE DO

AFP’s network of organized and influential citizen leaders in a growing number of states throughout the country is working to change the nation one state at a time.

  • AFP mobilizes citizens to effectively make their voices heard in public policy issue campaigns.
  • AFP educates citizens about where their elected officials stand on our issues.
  • AFP combines “best-in-class” capabilities built once at the national level with local knowledge from our state staff and on-the-ground grassroots to create economies of scale that win.
  • AFP leverages our comparative advantages with those of other groups by building coalitions of local, state, and national grassroots organizations fighting for a common cause.
