Thank you for visiting the Summit Republican City Committee Website! We hope you find what you're looking for. Because you are visiting our site, we know that you are either considering connecting with us, curious about what we are doing, or even better, you want to find out how you can become involved and make a difference!
As your local Republican organization, we know the power of a growing number of people, with common beliefs, becoming involved and making a real difference! We are enjoying a growth in ranks, during this exciting time, and we are having fun meeting new people and taking collective action to make a difference in this most important election cycle of all of our lifetimes. With the elections only a short time away, there's no time like the present! The only way to make a difference is by becoming involved and through collective action!
I often hear (and have said myself), "I don't have time to get involved," or "my vote doesn't count," or "someone in Washington will figure it out, they always do." Unfortunately, none of these statements are true. Ben Franklin had many quotes that reflected his obsession with time, and his various quotes boiled down to this: don't waste your time, make it count. Ronald Reagan also reminded us that we can't assume someone else will do it for us: "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same."
It's my hope that this is the year that you join our group because you say, " I will make the time, my vote matters, and I choose to be heard." You will find the amazing power of many people pitching in with what time they have.
We are living in historical times with record debt, high unemployment, unrelenting and imminently rising taxes, rising gas prices…all things that lead to serious questions about how our future generations will ever be able to continue their quality of life in the way we have inherited and enjoyed. While there have been darker times in American history, we must never forget without you, your family, your neighbors, or individuals who care, times can quickly change, and not always in our favor. We owe it to our children and successive generations to all take action now and make sure that this election moves the direction back towards the philosophy that made us the envy of the world! Otherwise, we will continue in the direction of becoming just another failing European socialist experiment.
My favorite quote of all is from Ghandi who said " You must be the change you wish to see in the world." It is this precise quote that drove me to get involved, ultimately leading me to run for the Chair of the Summit GOP. It's an honor to be at the helm of an incredible group of friends and new acquaintances. Together, we're working on affecting the positive change we hope to see in the world. as are countless other groups just like us! There's no better place to be if you feel that way too!
In history, our greatest leaders are those who've always stood up for what they believed in. They didn't always have the right answer, or know exactly what to do, but ultimately their success was driven by the fact that they always did something. Action drives success.
When you ask yourself, "What can I do? I'm just one person" the Summit Republicans respond - it's simple, you can make calls, you can talk to your neighbors, have coffee with local council members, or vote on election day. Stay informed and then help us plan events that help us educate the public, or help with fundraisers that keep our group operating and our ideals alive. You can do anything, but in order for it to matter, it has to be something. Without exception, it's never too late....until it's too late.
