Jefferson's Book Fair

Summit’s Jefferson School hosted a very successful fiesta-themed Scholastic Book Fair on March 19-21. The sale helped get about 1,600 books into the hands of its students.

The book fair was kicked off by a special family night that included music by teachers Chris Wilson, Matt Santos, and Nicole Waters; a fiesta paper flower making station by teacher Jackie Campagna, story read-alouds by librarian Patty Natale, principal Ron Poles, and Jefferson Primary Center aide Erin Daly; maraca craft making by Brownie troop 42853; bake sale; and $100 worth of raffle prizes.

“It was exciting to see so many parents and children attend the book fair family night. It was a true celebration of books and reading,” said Jefferson’s librarian, Natale.

“It’s fantastic to see so many students eager to read, and to have such great participation from PTO volunteers and teachers and staff. We’re thrilled to exceed our sales from last year’s book fair to earn more money for our school’s classrooms and library,” said Jennifer Hinger, PTO volunteer.

Among the most popular books were Minecraft: Essential Handbook, Guinness World Records, and LEGO, Fly Guy, Geronimo Stilton, Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious, Skippyjon Jones, I Survived, Rainbow Magic, National Geographic, Bad Kitty, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.
