Ask Tim

Bio of Tim Scofield of Douglas VW.

A common phrase I hear around Douglas Volkswagen in Summit is "yeah ask Tim." You want to know how a new tech gadget works in a certain model Volkswagen? Ask Tim. Want to know what year a VW model added a feature? Ask Tim. If you ever see a tall blonde guy hanging around Douglas VW examining a Volkswagen, it's probably Tim. Tim Scofield lives, eats and breathes all things Volkswagen. Born in Overlook Hospital in Summit and raised in Mountainside, NJ, Tim is the oldest of three children. Before joining Douglas VW in February 2010, Tim had attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied Mechanical Engineering Technologies.

Tim has always been a "car guy" as long as he can remember.  By the time he was looking to purchase his first car, Tim was actually a Nissan guy. However a couple of his friends had VWs and he had always had an interest in them.  When Tim saw a VW GTI for sale, he decided to take it for a spin and never looked back.  According to Tim, "the soundness, responsiveness and overall driving experience was like nothing else. VW is the only company that can inspire the type of passion that you find in VW enthusiasts and in the VW community."  Tim currently owns three Volkswagens; a 1998 VW GTI, a 1996 VW Golf and a 2003 VW Passat.

One of Tim's most memorable experiences was interacting with his first customers at Douglas VW. He had noticed an older couple hanging out in the Service Department.  They were driving a Triple White Cabrio and Tim stopped to talk to them to compliment them on their car. Going forward, every time the couple came in they would always stop by Tim's desk to say hello. After about a year and a half, they were ready to buy a car and bought one through him. Says Tim, "I stand behind everything Volkswagen sells. My purpose in seeking a career at Douglas Volkswagen wasn't to sell cars, I came here to be part of Volkswagen." Tim is an avid member of VW Vortex, the definitive online group for the Volkswagen brand, and is also a member of Dubkorps, an international VW supporters club. If it's a major concern of yours to purchase a vehicle from someone who not only stands behind the brand they represent but understands every nuance of what they sell, then you need to pay a visit to Tim.
