Summit PD to Hold Saturday Morning Bike Auction

Families are hoping to get a deal on unclaimed bikes, starting at 9 a.m.

A representative of the Summit Police Department said she didn't know how long the city has been holding its bicycle auction, but it's been for "many, many, many" years.

The bicycles up for auction are part of a collection of abandoned bikes acquired by police, according to a spokesperson. After six months, if no one claims the abandones bikes, they become eligible for auction.

It's a good way to pick up an inexpensive bicycle.
