Council Honors Youth Academy Instructor's Aides

Four teens given Police Chief Awards.

Mayor Jordan Glatt and Police Chief Robert Lucid awarded four teens Police Chief Awards Tuesday night.

  • Ali Hoesly is a sophomore at Summit High School where she plays for the basketball, volleyball and softball teams.  Following her experience as a cadet with the Summit Police Youth Academy in 2006, Ali was selected to be an Instructor’s Aide for the Academy in 2007.  This year was her third year of volunteering her time to assist the instructors at the Academy.
  • Kelli Houck  is a junior at Summit High School where she is a member of the Volleyball Team and the Swim Team.  Following her experience as a cadet with the Summit Police Youth Academy in 2006, Kelli was selected to be an Instructor’s Aide for the Academy in 2007.  This year was her third year of volunteering her time to assist the instructors at the Academy.
  • Joey Sherbo   A former Chatham resident, Joey now resides in Point Pleasant Beach and has entered his junior year at Point Pleasant Beach High School.  He volunteers his time as an EMT with the Point Pleasant Beach Rescue Squad and plays for the high school baseball team.  Following his experiences as a cadet with the Summit Police Youth Academy in 2006 and 2007, Joey was selected to be an Instructor’s Aide for the Academy in 2008.  This year was his second year of volunteering his time to assist the instructors at the Academy.
  • Greg Vartan   Greg is a junior at Summit High School where he is president of his class.  He also practices the Martial Art of Karate and is only one step away from achieving his black belt.  Following his experiences as a cadet with the Summit Police Youth Academy in 2005 and 2006, Greg was selected to be an Instructor’s Aide for the Academy in 2007.  This year was his third year of volunteering his time to assist the instructors at the Academy.
