JCP&L: Over 4,500 Without Power in Summit

JCP&L is reafirming that it could be as many as 10 days before power is fully restored to homes in Summit, according to a statement on its outtage map website.

As of 8p.m. more than 4,549 customers were reportedly without power in Summit alone. The number appears to continue to rise. "If you have not yet reported your service as being out, please use the report an outage link or call 1-888-544-4877," the company said on its website.  Major emergencies should be reported to 911, the company said, but "customers should immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or local police or fire department."

Transformers are exploding like fireworks according to some reports from residents in Union County.

Summit Resident Angie Gannon wrote on Patch's Facebook page: "Looks like lightning, but transformers are lighting up the sky. Creepy!"

Woodland Avenue

Russell Place

Dorset Lane

Crescent Avenue

Ascot Way

Mountain Avenue

Springfield Avenue

New England Avenue

Summit Avenue

Morris Avenue

Kent Place

Aubrey Street

Lewis avenue

DeBary Place

JCP&L said crews will only begin power restoration once the storm begins to subside, or "as it's safe to do so," the power utility said on its website.
