Student Accosted on Larned Road

The perpetrator, described by a 17-year-old student as a white man in his mid-to-late 30s, has not been caught.

Summit Police have issued a patrol alert for a lewdness incident that occurred on Larned Road near the Oak Knoll School earlier today.

According to police reports, a 17-year-old female student reported that while she was walking to her parked vehicle, she observed an unknown white male nearby. She acknowledged him by saying, “How are you doing?”

The individual replied, “I’m Fine,” as she passed by. The young woman turned around and saw the man expose his genitals and begin masturbating. The victim immediately left the area and reported the incident to school security staff.

The suspect was last seen walking down the street away from the incident.

According to acting Chief of Police Paul Kelly, "the man did not try to lure the student or harm her in any way," he said.

In the interest of neighborhood safety, Summit Schools Superintendent Nathan Parker issued a Code Red Alert at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. When an alert is reported, a call was placed at 9:30 and recipients were directed to the district's website for more information. The quick response by students and parents initially slowed slowed the site's server, but it was functioning normally by 10 p.m.
