Lightning Strikes Tree, Damages Two Oak Ridge Avenue Homes

After striking the tree, the electricity traveled inside homes causing minor damage.

Thursday morning's storm took a toll on one tree outside an Oak Ridge Avenue home when it was struck by lightning.

Deputy Fire Chief Eric Evers said after the tree was struck, the electricity went "up and into the house, damaging the sheet rock on one wall in the bedroom."

Evers said there was a smoke condition in the attic of the home, but no fire. He also reported the home across the street suffered electrical damage to its alarm system.
