Nixle: Boy Approached By Man In Metro Homes Field Bathroom

Suspicious incident occurred after a 12U football game.

Summit Police issued a Nixle alert shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday night regarding a suspicious incident at Metro Homes Field earlier Sunday afternoon following a 12U football game against Cranford.

At approximately 2 p.m., an 11-year-old boy entered the public restroom at Metro Homes Field when an adult male, who was standing at one of the urinals, asked the boy where he attended school, the alert read.

The boy told the man that he attended the Summit Middle School.  The man then asked the boy where he lived. The boy did not provide the information and the boy then asked the man why he wanted to know this information.  The man then asked the boy for his telephone number. Feeling uncomfortable, the boy left the restroom and told his father, who was waiting in the parking lot, what took place. The boy's father checked the restroom, but the man was gone.  The boy described the suspect as follows:

  • White male, approximately 35-40 years of age, slim build, 5'6'-5'7" in height, having reddish hair & reddish mustache, wearing a white tee shirt with unknown writing on same, light colored blue jeans, dark brown belt and sneakers.  The suspect was also described as wearing oval shaped eyeglasses.
