No Injuries From Car Fire on Route 24 in Summit

Fire was most likely caused by a mechanical malfunction, according to Summit Fire Department.

No one was injured during a car fire that broke out on Route 24 West in Summit around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Summit Fire Department Battalion Chief Wayne Smith said what caused the fire hasn’t been determined yet, but it was likely a mechanical malfunction.

An arson investigator was initially called to the scene, which is normal when there’s a fire and the cause isn’t known, Smith said. But the investigator was told not to come since it didn’t need to be investigated further.
