Police Chief Issues Car Burglary Advisory: "Please Lock Your Car"

Last night "numerous" unlocked automobiles were burglarized in the area of River Road, Passaic Avenue and Beekman Road.

The following is text from an alert released by the Summit Police Department Chief of Police.

Residents,

Last night, there were numerous burglaries to unlocked vehicles in the residential areas, including West End Avenue, Greenfield Avenue and Beekman Road.

Please lock your vehicle as they are not forcibly entering these parked vehicles.

We also ask that if you “See Something, Say Something”… a simple and effective program which will raise public awareness of crimes possibly occurring, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper local law enforcement authorities. Residents are a great extra set of eyes and ears for the department, working together we will all benefit.

Summit Police Department: 908-273-0051 and/or 911

Thank you for your assistance.

Chief Robert Weck
