Police Release Sketch of Suspect From Robbery Near Summit

Suspect from May 5 burglary at New Providence apartment complex near the Summit border is described as dark skinned Hispanic or Indian male, 5'7", 25 to 35 years old, scruffy facial hair, medium build.

New Providence Police released a composite sketch of the suspect at 11 p.m. at a garden apartment complex, located at 851 Springfield Avenue on the Summit border.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned Hispanic or Indian male approximately 5'7", between 25 to 35 years old with scruffy facial hair and a medium build. The victim indicated he was wearing a black dew-rag with a twisted knot on top, black sweatshirt with a white stripe on the sleeves, and light colored jeans.

After she walked a few steps into her apartment, she was tackled by the suspect who was attempting to burglarize the apartment.

A struggle occurred between the victim and suspect, and the victim was able to free herself from the assailant's grasp, run out her door and began banging on her neighbor's door, who called 9-1-1.

It is believed that the actor entered her apartment from her fire escape through a window she had left ajar and also fled her second floor apartment out the same window and down the fire escape. The window was found to be open further than she had left it. The suspect may have fled in a white Tahoe or Yukon.
