Police Respond to Fewer Calls in June

Calls for service down 12.8 percent since June 2010.

The Summit Police Department responded to 12.8 percent fewer calls in June 2011 than it did in June 2010, an activity report released today shows. 

Police responded to 1,892 calls for service in June 2011, down from 2,170 in June 2010. Of those calls, 175 were crime related calls. 

The detective bureau opened 130 investigations in June including 11 petty larcenies, eight grand larcenies, one robbery, six cases of breaking and entering, seven assaults, eight cases of disorderly persons and one auto theft.

Officers made a total of 28 arrests in June including two juveniles. Arrests included one for robbery, four for assault, two for fraud, two for malicious mischief, two for driving under the influence, and three for narcotics. 

Police also issued 286 tickets for moving violations and 480 for parking violations.
