Congressman Lance to Honor Summit FD Today

The event will celebrate the Summit Fire Department for achieving accredited agency status with the Center for Public Safety Excellence of the Commission for Fire Accreditation International.

Congressman Leonard Lance will hold a special ceremony to honor the firefighters at the Summit Fire Department (SFD) on Wednesday, October 19 at 4:30 p.m. 

The purpose of the event is to recognize the SFD on  with the Center for Public Safety Excellence of the Commission for Fire Accreditation International. Summit is one of only and 144 in the world to earn the prestigious honor.

During the event, Lance will present Summit Fire Chief Joseph Houck and the department with a special congressional award and an American flag that was over the United States Capitol Building in the department’s honor.

Lance’s ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Summit Fire Department located at 396 Broad Street in Summit.

In advance of the event, Lance praised the Summit Fire Department for their dedication to public safety.
