Rash of Car Burglaries Under Investigation

Residents told police electronics were stolen from cars parked in their driveways sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, multiple Summit residents reported items stolen from their vehicles, according to police.

Two Apple iPods, one valued at $150, the other at $249, were taken from vehicles parked in a residential driveway on Caldwell Avenue. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday. 


A GPS valued at $200 and a purse were taken from a car parked at a Park Avenue residence between 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday. The purse was later found with $300 in cash and make-up and perfume valued at $120 missing.

A backpack was removed from a vehicle while it was parked at a Park Avenue residence sometime during Tuesday night. It was found by patrol and returned to owner. Nothing was reported missing. 


In three separate incidents, residents of Park Avenue and Edgewood Road reported that their cars were broken into during the same time period but nothing had been reported missing as of Thursday. 

A blue Medisoft book valued at $180 was reported stolen from a vehicle while it was parked at a John Street residence sometime between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

A black and grey Mikita drill valued at $250 and a set of pliers valued at $50 were reported stolen from a vehicle while it was parked at a John Street residence sometime between 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
