SPD Investigating Pair of Daytime Burglaries

Fay Place and Prospect Street burglaries, just days apart, netted over $90,000 in stolen items, reports police. The public is asked to help with the investigation.

Police went door-to-door earlier this week to inform Fay Place neighbors of a home burglary near daylight hours on Monday. This was the second such incident in two days in Summit, with over $90,000 in stolen items reported. Police are seeking the public’s help with the investigation.

The first of the two burglaries according to reports occurred on Prospect Street on Saturday, Feb. 25th, between 2:30p.m.  and 7p.m. Foreign currency, three sterling silver candle holders, an undisclosed amount of jewelry and two Ipods were among the items allegedly removed from the home.  “Items reported stolen total approximately $83,670,” said a report.

A city-wide alert this week came on the heels of the second reported incident on Monday, just two miles from the weekend burglary. Sometime between 3:30p.m. and 9:30 p.m., according to police, a Fay Place residence was broken into. “Reported missing were jewelry totaling between $12,000 - $15,000 and a Panasonic  LED flat screen TV,” according to the report.
