Summit Crime Report: Man Arrested for DWI, Dress Stolen From Business
Plus, Summit Police made an arrest for burglary, theft of moveable property, and another arrest for forgery.
Summit Police recently handled a report of shoplifting, and made three separate arrests for Burglary, Credit Card Fraud and Driving While Intoxicated.
On Dec. 8 around 1:30 p.m., an employee of a Springfield Avenue clothing store reported that a black dress, valued at $54, was missing from the store. Upon police arrival, the suspect was gone.
Two days later, Mark A. Boettcher, a 51-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested at Summit Avenue and Union Place for Driving While Intoxicated.

Boettcher was driving a 2002 Toyota southbound on Summit Avenue when he hit Dennis Balasabas, a 39-year-old Summit resident, who was crossing Summit Avenue at Union Place around 5:30 p.m. Monday, said Summit Police Lt. David L. Richel. Balasabas was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital with serious injuries that included a broken shoulder and injury to his palm.
Earlier that same day, Summit Police arrested Latifah N. Reese, a 28-year-old Jersey City resident, at police headquarters for credit card fraud.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, an 18-year-old Summit resident, Ashley Antonia Ruffin, was arrested on Sayre Street for Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Moveable Property 3rd Degree.
