Summit Crime Report: Thefts, Drug Arrests, Tatlock Fieldhouse Damage

The following information was submitted to Patch by the Summit Police Department. Any arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Summit Police recently handled reported thefts in the city, among other incidents.

On Jan. 14 at 12:30 p.m., there was a reported theft of an Apple iPhone 4S from a Union Place bagel shop bathroom, which occurred sometime between 10:40 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

On Jan. 17 at 5:54 p.m., there was a theft of a razor scooter reported. The scooter was left outside the Summit Library between 4:40 and 5 p.m.

Two days later, a report of theft of 32 rings valued at $5,115 was made from a Morris Avenue Antique Shop. The theft was made sometime between Jan. 17 and 18.

Reginald Eaford, a 42-year-old from East Orange, was arrest on Summit Avenue for Theft by Deception 3rd Degree, 2 counts of Forgery 3rd degree and Driving While Suspended. Lynne Bennett, a 47-year-old Irvington resident, was arrest at the same time and location for Theft by Deception and Forgery 3rd Degree.

Jan. 11

Nolan P. Kasbar, a 19-year-old Summit resident, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. for Possession of 50 Grams or Less Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Minutes later on Springfield Avenue, 20-year-old Caroline L. Hurckes and 19-year-old Andrew Robert Nerby, both Summit residents, were arrested for Possession of 50 Grams or Less Marijuana. Nerby was also arrested for 2 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jan. 15

Lewis A. Ruffner, a 45-year-old Newark resident, was arrested for Driving While Suspended.

Joseph G. Garrett, a 45-year-old Millburn resident, was arrested on Springfield Avenue for Shoplifting 3rd Degree.

Jan. 16

Mohammad S. Sheikh, 32, of Summit, was arrested at Broad Street and Elm Street for Possession of CDS, Driving While Suspended and Operation of Motor Vehicle While in Possession of CDS.

Anabela Rodriguez, a 25-year-old Elizabeth resident, was arrested at Summit Police Headquarters for 2 counts Theft of Moveable Property 3rd Degree and Theft of Moveable Property 4th Degree.

Jan. 22

At 1:07 p.m., damage to the men's and women’s bathrooms were reported at Tatlock Field fieldhouse, which was discovered on Jan. 18 at 9 p.m. There was graffiti on the walls, and a mirror was pried from a wall and broken on walkway.
