Summit Police Investigate Rash of Vandalism to Parked Vehicles

Since Jan. 2, there were 20 separate incidents reported to Summit Police in which windows of parked vehicles in residential areas were smashed. Call (908) 273-0051 if you have any information.

Summit Police are investigating a string of incidents where vandals used rocks to smash windows of 20 vehicles parked in residential areas of Summit.

The incidents, which began on Jan. 2, mostly occurred during the evening and overnight hours, according to a Nixle alert released by Summit Police on Friday.

In each incident, the vehicles were either parked in a driveway near the street or parked in the street, according to the alert.

In a Summit Police Blotter released Thursday, numerous reports of criminal mischief to a vehicle were reported with either the front or rear windshield smashed, or a window smashed.

The vehicles were located at residences on Rotary Drive, Valley View Avenue, Beekman Road, Dorchester Road, Sunset Drive, Parkview Terrace, Karen Way, Hawthorne Place, Oak Ridge Avenue and Yale Street, according to the blotter.
