What are the statistics? How do they know there's a "spike"? Summit cops should be sitting at the exit of every high way ramp; Glenside Ave (78) Broad street (24) (Turns into Summit from Springfield/Millburn) sit in the shell station next to Chatham Boro, etc.

The police presence in this area needs to be significantly higher if there has been an increase in burglaries.

Thanks for your comments. I've reached out to the Summit PD, but my calls haven't been returned. I'm sure they are doing everything they can to keep residents safe and I wouldn't be surprised if patrols have been beefed up. I'll follow up on this story.

What time of day did the burglaries occur? On which streets?
