2 Summit Residents Robbed Within a Half-Hour

Robbers sought in two incidents Wednesday night.

Summit Police are searching for the those responsible for the robbery of two Summit residents within a half hour of each other on Wednesday evening, police said.

At about 10:15 p.m., two black females and two black males approached a 19-year-old Summit resident on Morris Avenue near Edison Drive and ordered her to turn over her cell phone and money, Summit Police Capt. Steven Zagorski said. The four people then fled in a four-door white or grey sedan with her phone and $50 cash, according to police.

About a half hour later, a 51-year-old Summit man was walking home from the New Providence Train Station near Beekman Road and Passaic Avenue when a man pushed him and demanded his cell phone, Zagorski said.

“The victim resisted and a struggle ensued,” Zagorski said.

As the victim struggled with the robber, a second man exited a parked vehicle and began striking and kicking the Summit man until they were able to bring him to the ground and take his phone, watch and gym bag, according to police.

The second robber is described as a black male 6-foot-2, thin build wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and another black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, fled in a white sedan.

The 51-year-old Summit man suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention, police said.
