Summit Police to Open Doors to Residents

The department is hosting its second annual open house.

The Summit Police Department is hosting an upcoming open house to give residents an inside look at the inner workings and day-to-day operations of its local law enforcement agency.

The second annual open house is set for Sunday, June 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The open house is the initiative of Chief Robert Weck, who encourages all Summit residents to stop by where they'll be able to take a tour of police headquarters and meet their local police officers.

In addition to local officers, members of the Union County Emergency Response Team and Union County's SWAT team are expected to be in attendance, as well as the county's K-9 Unit.

Refreshments will be made available courtesy Summit's PAL board and children will be given an souvenir during their visit.

When Weck took over the job as Summit's top cop late in 2011, he made it a priority to engage the public on multiple levels, which includes providing them first-hand access through the open house.
